Konaseema is the most beautiful region of East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. `Kona` literally means a pointed peak of a hill. `Seema` means a region. As this area resembles an apex of a mountain or a triangle it is named thus. Two branches namely Gowthami and Vasishta of river Godavari flow on two sides of Konaseema. On the eastern side it is flanked by Bay of Bengal.
Abundant water resources, fertile lands and hard working people make this area a rice bowl. Coconut of this area is also world famous. Aqua culture became wide spread over last two decades. There are different shades of greens and blues everywhere. Beaches, canals, fish tanks, green fields, coconut groves give the area a fabulous ambiance. It looks as if a part of Kerala was cut and pasted here! People are very friendly. Smiles on their faces are as refreshing as cool winds blown from coconut leaves; and their hospitality as gentle and pleasant as ripples on river Godavari.
Boats on rivers and canals, horse drawn carts on the roads, people taking agricultural produce to nearby markets, children playing under trees, women carrying water pots on their heads, cowherds and shepherds driving and minding their livestock in open pastures, farmers and farm laborers working in the fields, fishermen waiting patiently over cast fishing nets or fishing rods… all lend spectacular liveliness which hardly be found elsewhere. Temples are an additional attraction of this area.
We are indeed fortunate to be near this abode of nature. Seeing this you, a nature lover, might want to visit the place. Until that lucky day comes your way enjoy looking at these pictures and reading my posts 🙂
Overall, it is a very good post.. In addition to the “aqua culture’, if you made a mention of the “vedic culture’ also, the post would have been complete..
Photos were quite appealing.
Thank you very much sir 🙂 . You are right in your observation. I suppose the vedic culture part can be covered in a special post.
