For your eyes only!

Kakinada town is in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. You might doubt why I have mentioned the name of this specific town when there are hundreds of such towns in India. There is a strong reason for it. If you were asked to say where the tallest Saibaba statue in the world is, which place would you mention? Shirdi! No…. you would be wrong, because 116 feet tall  Saibaba statue is in a small village called Repur near Kakinada. Quizzes and wisdom apart, what about aesthetics? Don`t we want to behold wonders wherever they may be?  The construction of the statue was undertaken by Shirdi Sai Samstan with a cost of around three crores. It took them 12 years(2000 – 2012) to complete this arduous task. Do you want to see how it looks like? Saibaba here is in his usual sitting posture, giving blessings to the devotees. The seat for him is a four storeyed building! Looking from afar he seems to be sitting atop tall palm trees. That was how I captured him while I was travelling by a train.
